The children of Domiz camp in Iraqi Kurdistan - Photography

During a recent trip to Iraqi Kurdistan with the International Organisation of Migration (IOM), I visited the largest Syrian refugee camp in the country, Domiz, in the northern governorate of Dahuk. The camp houses 58,000 Syrians that have fled primarily from north-eastern Syria, but also from places further afield such as Aleppo. I was able to speak to several Syrians living in Domiz II camp (a small, new camp set up in December 2013 a few kilometres away from Domiz to alleviate pressures on the larger camp) about their lives and their children's schooling. Many of them ride buses organised by IOM from Domiz II to their schools in Domiz camp, and I was also able to ride the buses with the kids and take photographs. I couldn't understand a word they were saying, but their excitement and joy was contagious. Here are some photos:
